How to prepare your space for an event!

Welcome sign

If you’re new to the Native Spaces platform and you’re wondering how to prepare your space before hosting your first event, or you’re a long-term host and you’d like a quick reminder of how best to set up your home for bookings, you’ve come to the right place.

Whether you’re renting out your space, as the owner of a venue on the French Riviera, we know that you’ll want to make the best of your property for your guests. So, to ensure that everything runs smoothly during events and that you keep getting bookings, we’ve put together some of our top tips to help you prepare your space for each and every reservation.

First of all, before you start hosting, it’s very important for you to think about what kind of events you want to host at your space. While renting out your villa or apartment may be a great way to make a little extra money when you’re not in residence, you need to be comfortable with the bookings you take which is why Native Spaces gives you complete control over what kind of event types you want to host. If you’d prefer to concentrate on renting your home as a corporate venue only or you’d rather not host larger, noisier events such as weddings or birthday parties, the decision is entirely up to you.

Once you’ve decided exactly which types of events you’d like to host and you’ve received your first booking via the Native Spaces platform, it’s time to get your property rental ready.

To do this we recommend taking a walk through your space and checking off the following items :

  1. Make sure your property is clean and tidy before the event starts.

  2. Choose which rooms you want guests to have access to. If you’d prefer to keep your bedroom private or would rather that nobody goes into your study during an event, you’ll need to lock your doors before the guests arrive.

  3. Rearrange or remove furniture from your living areas to ensure your guests have plenty of space to move around the property comfortably and/or can install features such as DJ booths, podiums or dance floors for use during the event.

  4. Check that any services you have offered to your guests for use during the event including WIFI networks and music or entertainment systems are working properly and all necessary log-ins/passwords are made available to the event organisers.

  5. Ensure that your fire alarms have fresh batteries and are working properly and that the event organiser knows where to find your fire extinguishers in the event of an emergency.

  6. Make sure that service providers such as caterers and waiting staff have access to any areas of the property they will need to use during the event.

  7. Ensure any deliveries can be made easily during the event set-up.

  8. Check any outside living areas in your property and make sure that balconies and terraces are swept clean of leaves and can be accessed by guests during the rental period.

  9. If you have a swimming pool on the property, double check that any security gates can be locked and pool alarms can be turned on when the pool is not in use.

  10. Remove any personal vehicles from your parking area in order to allow your guests to park on the property during the event.
