Ready, Set, Go 🏃‍♀️

With just a few short months to go until the summer season arrives, it’s no surprise that excitement is already building for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Putting the spotlight firmly on the City of Light, this year’s edition of the Olympic Games promises to be a spectacular celebration of sport, culture, and international cooperation.

Hosted by the iconic city of Paris, Olympic events will also be taking place throughout France with venues across the country serving as the backdrop to the most prestigious of the global sporting events. Guaranteed to captivate audiences around the world, let us take you on a whirlwind tour across France as you discover the 39 Olympic venues of the Paris 2024 Games.

Paris

As the official host city, Paris will offer athletes 15 Olympic venues for a total of 21 different sports. Several of the Paris venues are already well-loved by sports fans including the Parc des Princes for football matches, the Bercy Arena for basketball, artistic gymnastics and trampolining plus the Roland Garros stadium which will feature both tennis and boxing matches.

The city will also host an 11 competition venues during the Paralympic Games which will take place from the 28th August to 8th September 2024, bringing together 4,400 of the world’s most outstanding Paralympic athletes. In addition to the existing venues, several new facilities such as the Arena Porte de la Chapelle will be used for sports including para badminton and para powerlifting.

From the Place de la Concorde to the Alexandre III bridge, the Arena Champ-de-Mars, the Grand Palais and the Esplanade des Invalides, not to forget Paris’ grande dame, the Eiffel Tower herself, iconic locations all over the city will be transformed into sports arenas during the Games providing spectators with a thrilling fusion of both heritage and sporting performance.

Ile-de-France

And it’s not just the city centre that will be hosting events during the Games, the entire Ile-de-France region will also be getting in on the act with the Chateau of Versailles hosting the equestrian, para-equestrian and pentathlon competitions, the Yves du Manoir stadium hosting hockey games and both the Stade de France and the Saint-Denis Aquatic Centre all set to host events throughout the Games.

Lille: Pierre Mauroy Stadium

Outside of the capital, the provinces will also be joining in with the fun with Olympic events planned across France and even in a French Overseas Territory. Just an hour from Paris, Lille is the closest city to the capital and will be hosting the preliminary stages of the Olympic basketball tournament plus the men's and women's handball finals at the state-of-the-art Pierre Mauroy stadium in Villeneuve-d'Ascq.

Châteauroux : The CNTS shooting range in Châteauroux

Located in the charming Centre-Val de Loire region, the town of Châteauroux is an easy 2 hour train ride away from Paris. Set on the banks of the Indre, Châteauroux will welcome 340 Olympic athletes and 160 Paralympic athletes who will be competing in shooting and para-sport events as 15 Olympic shooting events and 13 Paralympic para-sport events will be held at the newly-renovated Centre National de Tir Sportif just outside the town centre.

Marseille: Marseille Marina

Just 3 hours away from Paris thanks to a high-speed rail connection, Marseille is not just France’s second city, it will also be the location for many of the aquatic events during the 2024 Games. Ideally located on the Mediterranean coast, competitors will be able to soak up the sunshine as they drop anchor in the iconic Roucas-Blanc Marina before setting off to compete in ten categories, from mixed double-handed dinghies to newer disciplines such as foil windsurfing (IQFoil) and kiteboarding.

Football Tournaments

Fans of the Beautiful Game will be delighted to hear that the Paris 2024 football tournaments will take place in 6 of France’s most well-known stadiums with games being held in Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon, Saint-Etienne, Nice and Marseille. With 16 men's teams and 11 women's teams competing, spectators are guaranteed to enjoy thrilling matches in the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium in Saint-Etienne, the Beaujoire Stadium in Nantes or the eco-friendly Allianz Riviera Stadium in sunny Nice.

Tahiti: Teahupo’o

A French protectorate since 1842 and the largest island in French Polynesia, Tahiti will be the setting for the Paris 2024 surfing championships this summer. Home to some of the most iconic waves in the world, every surfer dreams of surfing in these crystal clear waters and this year will see competitors from the men's and women's shortboard category competing to catch the perfect wave in the Teahupo’o Wave.

Mindful of the environment, almost all of the facilities for the surfing events have been designed to be environmentally friendly and will be removed at the end of the Games.
