Transport:

While day events are often better held closer to the Palais des Festivals during MIPIM week, the hills around Cannes offer a fabulous selection of unique venues for evening events. To make getting to and from the venue as smooth as possible for your guests, why not think about providing a car or shuttle bus service from the Croisette to the venue and back throughout the evening.

Layout:

The type of event you’re planning to hold will determine the layout for your chosen venue. A business presentation with a speaker’s platform plus audio/video equipment to set up may require more space than a cocktail party or buffet lunch so make sure you double-check the floor plan before booking. A great compromise for MIPIM week is to rent a villa where you can provide accommodation for you and your team plus both indoor and outdoor living space to set up "break out" rooms, meetings and even a cocktail party for your guests.

Capacity:

Depending on the type of event you’re planning and the number of guests attending, you will need to check the room capacity at your chosen venue. Although Spring can be a glorious time to visit the French Riviera, it can also bring traditional Spring showers so you will need to ensure you have enough indoor space to host all your guests if it starts to rain during your event. Once again, a private villa is a fantastic way to cover all your bases with outside space for sunny days plus private indoor living space if the weather turns bad.

Outside Space:

Although March in Cannes can be rainy when the weather is fine everybody will want to head outside to make the most of that golden Riviera sunshine. Renting a venue with a private terrace or garden is always a good idea in order to allow your guests to make the most of their time in Cannes whilst networking with other professionals.

Amenities:

When planning your side event, it’s important to take into account the services and/or amenities offered by your chosen venue. From chairs and tables to audiovisual equipment without forgetting kitchen facilities for your caterers, don’t forget to check out what the venue has to offer before making your final decision. Additionally, if you’re planning to rent one of our more unique spaces, we can also help you set up by arranging for external equipment and services to be delivered onsite for your event.

Services:

To make sure your side event goes with a swing, you may need a little extra help to create that wow factor for your guests. To save you both time and hassle, here at Native Spaces our team will be on hand to provide recommendations for local businesses and service providers including:

  • Sound and light providers
  • Catering companies
  • Furniture rental companies
  • Printing and branding companies
  • Transport
  • Hostesses and staffing agencies
  • Florists
  • Entertainment

While we can definitely help you find all the traditional service providers such as caterers, DJs and bands, thanks to our extensive network of local partners, we can also suggest exciting one-of-a-kind entertainment and catering experiences. Get people talking with options ranging from a caravan concept mobile bar to food trucks serving local Niçois specialities, roller skating hosts and hostesses, a robotic photo booth for selfies and much much more besides.

Our Top Tips for organising an unforgettable side event during MIPIM:

Catering:

Depending on your requirements, catering can be a major expense when planning a side event in Cannes. To help you keep within your budget, for smaller events we recommend hiring a private chef rather than a catering company to provide food for your guests. A more economical option than hiring caterers, a private chef is a great way to wow your guests with a customised menu whilst adding a personal touch to your MIPIM event. For larger gatherings, we can also recommend local traiteurs, an option which may well be cheaper than the caterers available online and which will allow your guests to enjoy high-quality local produce creating a truly authentic French dining experience.

Staffing:

You’ve found the perfect venue for your MIPIM side event on the Croisette, you’ve got a fabulous terrace with sea views for miles and you’re ready to welcome your clients. But to take your event to the next level, why not forget to run up and downstairs to greet your clients and think about hiring staff to do the work for you instead. We can help you find a team of well-presented, outgoing and friendly hosts and hostesses who will check in your guests and welcome them as they arrive leaving you free to concentrate on the business ahead.

Furniture:

Once you’ve got your staffing situation sorted out, it’s time to look at staging your event. If the furniture at your chosen venue is not quite brand-appropriate, we can help you find a solution to the problem. With many fabulous rental companies across the French Riviera, creating the perfect setting for your event will be a breeze. Plus, if you’re renting one of our private villas or apartments, we can also arrange for you to put the existing furniture in a spare room or have it put into storage with the agreement of the venue owner. This gives you the option to completely recreate the space by branding the venue to better suit your business values.
